Having Scottish family, we have been visiting Scotland for many years and fell in love with this part of the Highlands whilst on our honeymoon in 2011. We initially bought a holiday lodge in Glenlivet so that we could spend as much time up here as we could but our dream has always been to move here permanently.
As frequent customers to the coffee shop whilst it was in the ownership of Maggie & Steve, we often joked about how we would love to own it and couldn’t believe it when the chance arose. As well as our love of a good cup of coffee and a nice slice of cake (see Ali) we both have a love of art and crafts and were already running our own businesses in England.
Although needlework and crochet have been a long-time hobby, Ali’s main interest now is needle-felting. This addiction began after a one-day workshop….and she hasn’t stopped since! She is a member of the International Feltmakers Association.
As an animal-lover, she generally prefers to concentrate on animal-related projects – both 2 and 3 dimensional. These include wildlife, pets (on a commission basis) but she also enjoys creating brooches, bag charms and decorative items. She has been commissioned to make pieces for customers as far afield as the USA and Australia.
Mark is a freelance photographer, with a passion for wildlife and the natural environment. His love of photography started when he was just 8 years old when his parents gave him a Kodak Brownie 127.
Mark’s work has been used by various wildlife trusts and environmental and animal charities both nationally and internationally, but has also taken him in other directions with local music festivals. With a broad spectrum of photographic subjects this has given him the perfect understanding to offer training and workshops where enjoyment of the subject is always key. He has also been shortlisted for Wildlife Photographer of the Year and British Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
